Arts, Antiques & Autos Extravaganza

DUST IF OFF. CLEAN IT UP. BRING IT OUT!

Denton Main Street Association will host the 15th annual event on Saturday, September 13th in 2014, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. around the square and beyond, 110 W. Hickory Street. See links to forms for car, vendor and chalk fest entry below.

This event features a hot rod, classic and custom car, truck and motorcycle with multiple car, truck and motorcycle classes and great trophies! Cash prizes for Best of Show winner in car, truck and motorcycle class. Entry fee is $20 up to Sept. 5th; $25 Sept. 6th -13th. All participants MUST register before 9 a.m. on day of the show. For details, rules and more, click here on the entry form for car show.

A silent auction featuring great downtown merchandise and other finds is held inside the courthouse during the event with bidding starting at 9 a.m. and open until 2 p.m.

Antique appraisers will provide you information on family treasures tucked away in your attic, so start digging them out. Appraisers give informational appraisals for $5/item or 3 for $10.  Look for a list of the types of items that can be appraised soon!

Chalk Fest is back!

This year's event should offer some fantastic drawings to add spark and life to the sidewalks downtown. Artists of all ages, click here for  Chalk Fest entry form on Chalk Fest and rules/guidelines. It will be a fantastic display to stroll through during the event and for days after the fun.

Thursday Twilight Tunes Celebrates its 21st season in 2014 and starts a week earlier!

Denton Main Street Association presents its award-winning concert series in downtown Denton starting at the end of April this year. The concert event sets the tone for fun downtown every Thursday beginning Thursday, April 24th at 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will run every Thursday evening through July 3rd, with a bonus concert on Friday, July 4th in the morning immediately following the 4th of July parade through downtown Denton.

Join the fun on Thursday evenings on the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn, 110 W. Hickory Street from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The concert is held on the west side of the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn in first half of the season, and in June it moves to the east side of the courthouse lawn. Admission is FREE. (Please note, the July 4th concert is a mid-morning concert and will be held on the West/Elm Street side due to shade).

Bring your friends and family, get a meal-to-go from one of the many downtown eateries, bring a blanket or chairs, and enjoy an evening of great live music as the sun sets over downtown Denton. The 2014 series offers an eclectic assortment of music for all listeners. Thursday Twilight Tunes is the perfect way to kick off the weekend early and listen to some of the best local bands in the Denton area.

This is the 21st season for this long-standing tradition in historic downtown Denton. Twilight Tunes is just another reason to stay in town for summer fun. Below is the concert schedule, with April 24th through July 3rd concerts set for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.. The July 4th concert will follow the 4th of July Parade and begin approximately 10 a.m..

Stroll the streets of the square and beyond while checking out the specials in the stores and restaurants. Enjoy refreshments while you shop, door prize drawings at various stores, and a chance to give back to the community throughout the weekend. Watch for special events and participating merchants to be posted as the event approaches.     

 

  

Denton Main Street Association's 16th Annual WASSAIL FEST 2014 during the annual Denton Holiday Lighting Festival

Friday, December 5th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. around historic Downtown Denton Square & Beyond

What is Wassail?  It is just a fussy Old English word for hot cider. Check out the delicious Wassail recipes at the more than 30 participating merchant locations around the historic downtown Denton Courthouse on the Square and beyond. Tasting begins at 5:30 p.m. and you can vote on your favorite! So, come sip and stroll through downtown.  Wassail tasting is free and for all ages. For a list of participating merchants, stay tuned to this site.

Spring Open House TBA for 2015

Downtown Denton is hoppin’ during Spring Open House weekend with all the shopping and dining destinations there are to enjoy in downtown on the square and beyond.

The fun abounds around downtown on every Spring as the merchants of the Denton Main Street Association open their doors for a Spring Open House event. The weekend offers something special in downtown’s array of places for shopping, dining and entertainment all weekend, so check back to this website for next year's date to be posted in early 2015. First Friday Denton -

Galleries around West Oak Street and in downtown Denton every first Friday evening of the month host a free event featuring art, fun and music for the community to enjoy.  Visit www.firstfridaydenton.com to get details for each month.

Acoustic Lawn Jam on the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square Lawn - FREE

Year-round: Every Saturday 10 a.m. to Noon (weather permitting). 110 W. Hickory Street on the courthouse lawn. An open, acoustic jam session for all levels of musician. Come to listen or bring your guitar, drums, fiddle, spoons or your best singing voice to join the fun.

Denton Farmers’ Market

June – September: Tues., Th., & Sat.
Denton County growers sell fresh produce during the growing season in North Texas. June through September – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 12 noon, or Sell-out. Bayless-Selby House Museum Parking Lot, corner of Mulberry Street and Carroll Blvd. Market sponsored by Denton Country Growers Association. Community Market

Local artists and crafters sell at this market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in May through the first Saturday in December. Located at the Denton County Historical Park at the corner of Mulberry and Carroll Streets in downtown Denton. Visit www.dentonmarket.org/ for more details.
