Check out the downtown Denton art scene during First Friday - a monthly event on the first Friday of each month with galleries, stores and restaurants featuring hands-on art projects, exhibits, live music, demonstrations, refreshments, specials and more. First Friday fun typically runs 6 p.m to 9 p.m., with some staying open until 10 p.m. (hours vary, check schedule on www.FirstFridayDenton.com or check Facebook).
16th Annual Arts, Antiques & Autos is Sept. 12th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the historic downtown Denton Courthouse-on-the-Square. A family-friendly event with something for all to enjoy. Cars, trucks, motorcyle show, plus arts/crafts vendors, "Attic Treasure" info appraisals, Chalk Fest, kids crafts/games, downtown eateries and shops, live music, festival foods and more!

Denton Main Street Association hosts the 16th annual event on Saturday, September 12th in 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. around the square and beyond, 110 W. Hickory Street. See ALL entry forms below and details for the event, entertainment, appraisals, car show, Chalk Fest and more below.

This event features a hot rod, classic and custom car, truck and motorcycle with multiple car, truck and motorcycle classes and great trophies! Cash prizes for Best of Show winner in car, truck and motorcycle class. The awards ceremony is on the Elm Street side of the courthouse lawn at 2:30 p.m..
Festival-goers enjoy an array of activities throughout the day, including arts/crafts vendors, hands-on arts/crafts and games, Chalk Fest, festival foods, live music and "Attic Treasure" appraisals. And, check out all the cool shops around downtown while you are here.
This year the Chalk Fest will bring some fantastic chalk drawings to add spark and life to the sidewalks downtown at W. Oak near the corners of Cedar and Elm streets. Artists of all ages can contribute to a fantastic display to stroll through during the event and for days after the fun. To sign up for Chalk Fest, click on the entry form above.
Antique appraisers provide information on family treasures and heirlooms. Appraisers and dealers specialize in general antiques, art, and jewelry. Info appraisals are $5/item or 3 for $10. Please try to limit it to 3 items per person. (No furniture, as all items must be able to be carried in by hand to the event. Appraisers cannot appraise from photos.)
Appraisals will be held in Amyx Fine Jewelry, 222 W. Hickory St. (jewelry) and Garden Gate, 119 Elm St. (art and general antiques). Appraisers will provide information and background on jewelry, art, silver, china, glass and other general antiques. Purchase your ticket(s) at the Information Booth on the lawn at the corner of Locust and Hickory.
Live Music takes place all day entertaining crowds on the courthouse lawn. Live music starts at 10 a.m. with Joe Pat Hennan and Jeff Glover - Texas Singers/Songwriters, followed by Woody's Rampage playing rock and blues, and the day ends with High School Ceasar.

Denton Main Street Association presented its award-winning concert series in downtown Denton starting April 23rd this year. The concert ran every week downtown on Thursdays, beginning Thursday, April 23rd through July 2nd, with a bonus concert on Saturday, July 4th in the morning after the 4th of July parade through downtown Denton.

What is Wassail? It is just a fussy old English word for hot cider. Some downtown merchants will stir up their best recipe to give free tastings for all ages during the festivities of the annual Denton Holiday Lighthing Festival, which falls on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 and more downtown merchants will hold tastings on the following day, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015. Check back for updates on this upcoming event this year.

Holiday Open House weekend kicks off for some great shopping and strolling the streets of the square and beyond to check out the specials in the stores and restaurants. Some merchants will have extended hours during the holiday season, so check with your favorites and see who is open late or on Sundays during December. Denton County growers sell fresh produce during the growing season in North Texas. June through September – Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 12 noon, or Sell-out.
