The Denton Main Street Association presents the Thursday Twilight Tunes, Arts, Antiques & Autos Extravaganza, and Wassail Fest each year in Downtown Denton. Below are just some of the annual events happening in downtown Denton, some of which are community efforts and projects that take place in downtown Denton. Acoustic Lawn Jam on the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square Lawn

FREE
Year-round: Every Saturday 10 a.m. to Noon (weather permitting). 110 W. Hickory Street on the courthouse lawn.
An open, acoustic jam session for all levels of musician. Come to listen or bring your guitar, drums, fiddle, spoons or your best singing voice to join the fun.

Denton Farmers’ Market

June – September: Tues., Th., & Sat.
Denton County growers sell fresh produce during the growing season in North Texas. June through September - Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 12 noon, or Sell-out. Bayless-Selby House Museum Parking Lot, corner of Mulberry Street and Carroll Blvd. Market sponsored by Denton Country Growers Association. Please contact the Denton County Agriculture Extension Agent for more information.

Thursday Twilight Tunes

Every Thursday evening in May and June - Free concert 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday evening featuring local and regional artists playing on the northwest corner of the courthouse lawn. Bring a blanket or chairs and get a great meal from one of the downtown eateries to go, bring it out to the courthouse lawn, and enjoy great live music.

Arts, Antiques & Autos Extravaganza

Second Saturday in September - Sept. 11, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
EVENT TAKES PLACE RAIN OR SHINE!!!! Arts, Antiques & Autos Extravaganza is a FREE festival featuring a classic, custom, and hot rod car and motorcycle show on the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square located at 110 W. Hickory Street. Come downtown to check out the dream machines lining the square, find that one-of-a-kind piece of art, have family heirlooms or sports memorabilia appraised, enjoy kids games, and live entertainment.

Don't miss Preview Night on Industrial Street, Friday, Sept. 10th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This is the only chance the public has to vote on their favorite car and motorcycle. The winner of each will receive the People's Choice Award on Saturday during the awards ceremony.

Event Schedule:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Arts/Crafts, Sponsor, Kids Activities and Food Booths open
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Information Appraisals: Specialists in general antiques, china, sports collectibles & memorabilia, jewelry, cut glass, and clocks will be able tell you more about a treasured family heirloom or collectible (appraisals are for informational purposes only). Appraisal Tickets are $5/item (no furniture or photographs of items will be reviewed by specialists). Tickets are sold inside the courthouse and at the Information Booth on the courthouse lawn.
    Locations for information appraisers: General antiques & collectibles, cut glass, and sports memorabilia and collectibles information appraisers will be inside courthouse General antiques, including china, will also be at County Seat Antiques on Hickory Street Clocks will be at W. Douglas Antiques on Elm Street Jewelry will be at Amyx Fine Jewelry on Hickory Street next to Campus Theatre
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Live Music: East side lawn (Locust Street side) of courthouse
    • 10 a.m. - gather around the flagpole on SW corner of lawn for National Anthem
    • 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. - Burton Tyler - Texas Singer/Songwriter
    • 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. - Guitar George Trio - Swing/Jump Blues
    • 1:45 p.m. - 3 p.m. - The Allmost Brothers - Allman Brothers Tribute Band
  • 3:30 p.m. - Car and Motorcycle Show Awards Ceremon With activities and entertainment for all ages, this is the ideal way to spend a Saturday. Admission for the public is FREE! Handicapped parking is available near Wells Fargo Bank, near Walnut, Locust and Austin Streets.   • Arts, Antiques & Autos Forms

    You may turn in your registration on the morning of the show (after Sept. 3rd entry is $20). On the morning of the show, come between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.to the barricade at Locust and Walnut Streets next to Wells Fargo Bank. OR during the week of Sept. 7 you may drop your entry form off at Wells Fargo, 101 S. Locust St. - - please see Carrell Ann Simmons.

    THE EVENT GOES ON RAIN OR SHINE. IF INCLEMENT WEATHER OCCURS, SHOW PARTICIPANTS WILL BE INFORMED OF ANY AWARD CEREMONY OR SHOW TIME SCHEDULE CHANGES UPON ARRIVAL AT THE EVENT. PARTICIPANTS CAN ARRIVE BETWEEN 7:30 A.M. AND 10 A.M. ON THE MORNING OF THE SHOW.

    Wassail Fest at Holiday Lighting Festival – first Thursday after Thanksgiving

    Come taste some great Wassail at partcipating stores and celebrate this year's Holiday Lighting Festival on the historic downtown square at 110 W. Hickory St. Festivities include a trolley tours of historic district, carriage rides with Santa, lighting of the tree, musical performances by community groups, a Brave Combo concert, Santa's Helper's Toy Drive and more.
