Summer Fun Kicks Off in Downtown Denton

Downtown Denton is bursting with activity starting this weekend and throughout the month of July.  It’s shopping, dining, entertainment, and good old fashioned celebrations to take you back to summers long gone.

Downtown Denton is not only a destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It’s a nostalgic place for family, friends and neighbors to gather for one of America’s most beloved traditions and holidays - Independence Day!  This 4th of July is packed with good times starting with the Yankee Doodle Parade that starts at 9 am on the Courthouse-on-the-Square and makes one round and then heads over to Quakertown Park for the Fourth of July Jubilee festivities.  Check out the downtown stores and restaurants and then head over to UNT and Apogee Stadium for the Kiwanis Fourth of July Fireworks Show for live music, food and a great explosion of color filling the skies over Denton.

The excitement of summer continues as every Wednesday in July is Customer Appreciation Month at participating locations. And it’s not only about getting some good deals or treats from the downtown merchants showing their love for loyal customers - there is a chance to win a Grand Prize for those customers who spend more than $30 in a member business on a Wednesday in July.  Just imagine yourself sitting in front of a large, big screen HD Smart TV after your efforts pay off and you win the drawing - all because you shopped and dined local!  Now get off the couch and start spending your hump days in downtown Denton this July.

NCTC First State Bank Exchange is almost complete!

So many changes are happening in downtown Denton that you have to visit often to keep up. A number of new DMSA member businesses have opened up in the past few months, including La Rose Maison, la di da, Sterling Crate Gifts, Half Pint Boutique , Free Play Denton, and more.  And a welcome back to Jupiter House! It’s good to have new energy from these businesses and their owners in our downtown and they can’t wait to meet you.

One of the biggest and most noticeable additions to downtown Denton is the new campus of NCTC First State Bank Exchange.  This facility is on East Hickory and will house a new campus for NCTC bringing students to downtown every Monday through Friday for classes.  You can’t miss the parking garage that stands tall over Mulberry Street. The faculty and staff are holding “Meet and Greet” and enrollment events throughout the summer to get ready for the Fall semester that begins in late August.  It will be new season in downtown Denton and the Denton Main Street Association is looking forward to sharing the experience with all the downtown visitors, residents, businesses, and new students, faculty and staff.

Make downtown Denton your destination this July! See you around downtown.
